ATS-V, Cadillac, Dance Weekend, Hard Work, Pearl, That's why I am a working mom

dream big work hardYesterday was a dance competition day. The Girl’s team does this competition every year and the Girl decided this year not to do her solo there. The last two years she has performed her solo and had the best run of the year and her score did not reflect it. She does very technical dances that are full of hard technique and some fun flashy tricks. But this competition seems to award easy routines to the kids who make the biggest faces and perform way over the top. Which sometimes it is fun and refreshing to see someone getting awarded for trying hard and performing well, but if you have a hard routine and execute and perform it well but the girl who has a bigger smile and flashy facials but drops props and doesn’t land one turn it gets old. I give the Girl credit for standing strong in her desire to not be offended  “I am not Bubble Gum Disney Pop Princess dance style that they like better, and they don’t understand my deeper sophisticated more mature dance routines” Good on her Fuck them and enjoy not taking my money! We know she is better than a score and that we don’t want to define her that way so she just decided to avoid the disappointment. She still danced with her team for the group numbers. She had fun and was not even a bit sad that she wasn’t doing her solo. I was. But I am happy to have only had to go to the competition one day this weekend. It was so nice!

She had a full day of competition dances 5 group dances spread out between 9am to 8:30 pm, the Hubs and the Boy went to the Cadillac dealership to see about getting the ATS-V that the Hubs has been wanting for a while now. They had one in the showroom that was a Crystal Frost White a matte finish pearl white color! It is beautiful. The Hubs sent me a text at some point and said “Guess who’s buying a car?” I was pretty excited. When I saw it for the first time a few months ago I fell in love with the color. The Hubs was not as fond of the color as I was but he loved that it had the racing package and cool car guy stuff and that it did not have a sunroof. He is tall and sunroofs really intrude on the space that his head takes up.

Bottom line it was a great day of dance and the Hubs finally got his car! Even though it is my car. I named her Pearl she is a beauty! The Hubs has wanted a different color but this one is one sexy car.Pearl I don’t normally like white cars or matte finish but the pearl Cadillac white with that finish I was just drawn to it! So gorgeous! I am happy to be able to help the Hubs get this car. This is the reason I went back to work over a year ago. I know the Hubs loves cars and loves fast cars and loves to be able to have something to touch that he can look at and say “this is what I work hard for” So I am happy to be able to help to give that to the Hubs, because he has given me and the kids so much! We will have so many fun times with this car I am looking forward to it!

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy cars. The right car can create so many memories and those can provide happiness. Work hard it pays off! Enjoy what you have and remember where you came from and how hard you worked for it. Then appreciate it, take care of it and be proud of what you accomplished!

Hard Work Always Pays Off

Hard Work, Not about the Win or loss, Pay off, wrestling

Tonight was the boys last duel Wrestling match. His team vs the other city teams. He wrestled twice tonight and went 1-1. He wrestled hard tonight and all year. He has struggled this year because all the kids he wrestles have gotten bigger and stronger and he pretty much has stayed the same. He is a small kid but he wrestles tough. He is not usually matched up wothnkids his size. They are all about 5-7 (sometimes more) pounds heavier than him.

image

He out in work wrestled hard the whole time and never gave up. I am so proud of him. He had a struggle this year, there was a few times he was bummed and down about not winning but he kept working, he kept trying and even though his record is not as good as it has been in years past he made us proud! He was a leader in his team and always supported his teammates and had good sportsmanship! I love watching him work hard and go hard win or lose Hard Work always pays off!

Can’t wait to watch him at the tournament Saturday. It is going to be bittersweet being the last time this year to see him wrestle until next year! On to baseball though!

Seahawk’s won the Wildcard Playoff game today on the road in Minnesota. They had a rough game in frigid temperatures (-6 at kick off)! Seahawk’s scored the only touchdown of the game. They won by 1 point after the Viking’s Kicker misses a field goal wide left.

The Hubs keeps saying “I feel bad for that guy” …maybe I am just selfish, but I don’t! I feel thankful that he missed. I am happy he  missed. Seahawk’s win and live to play another day!

Seahawk’s had a rough go, but in the end we scored more points and we won the game. Now we get to go on to the next game. We live tonight another day!

Never give up! Never ever stop believing or ad we say here in Seattle never stop B3lieving!

Life is Hard. Don’t Forget to Take Care of Yourself

Hard Work, Kids, Love, Quality Time, Working Mom

Happy Monday!

For me, today was pretty good (and I needed a good day!). You all know I have been struggling with this whole working mom thing. Today was a day off from school which helps not having to rush around and get kids ready for school and then no kids to pick up and get to dance and practice ect. But, today I felt like a good mom. I had two massage appointments today, one at 8:30 and one at 1:00. I came home in between and watched a movie with The Boy, The Girl came home from a friends house shortly after. Then I went back to work for my afternoon appointment, then took The Boy to Orthodontist which took too long for the kids and I to catch a movie but The Boy got a call from a friend to come over for a bit, so The Girl and I went out to dinner together. I had some moments to connect with the kids. It was nice and relaxing, I so needed that! I am sure there were some things I could have done (organize the pantry, grocery shop, meal plan ect) but I really needed some down time especially with the kids. And I am blogging now so it will be done before The Hubs gets done teaching his class and I will get ready for him to come home and have some ‘down time’ with him tonight too (or should I say ‘up time’?)Monday Be Awesome

Anyway, I had a rough time getting up this morning. I need to work on a schedule. I am going to try to get my workouts in first thing in the morning starting tomorrow. I will get up with The Hubs and make him and myself a healthy breakfast then get my workout done before the kids get up. I will need to get up at about 5:30 or 6:00 for that. Depending on the time the Hubs has to leave for work. I will workout before breakfast if he leaves later and if he leaves earlier I will work out after breakfast. I will also add in Shakeology at least once a day! That is what I am working on this week. I am also going to focus on getting enough water. I know they say to do only one thing at a time but I really need to do more, right now! I have put off self care for so long! So first thing is getting in the workout and scheduling my life!

Life is hard, Mondays are hard. Working and supporting a family is hard! We all need moral support, and physical support sometimes and financial support! It is important for us to take care of ourselves and I am trying to do my best to take care of me starting this week with schedule! What do you need to work on for self care? Try not to take on too much all at once. Put in the work and make sacrifices but don’t lose yourself! As it has said on my business cards since I started doing massage 16 years ago “Take the Time to Take Care of Yourself”. Don’t forget about you!

Have a great night folks!

You Either Win or You Learn

The Boy’s team played hard today in their “Pee Wee Cup” They scored the winning touchdown with 7 or so seconds to go and then it was called back by a phantom block in the back penalty. They lost by 1 point. They did such a great job! Our team were the underdogs in size and experience but not in heart. They played with a lot of heart, left it all on the field and we could not ask for more from this team!

WeEither win or learn can all learn lessons from the way these boys played today. Stepped it up and checked in, DID THEIR BEST. They played big, bigger than actually are (does this sound familiar?). If you could measure score with heart we would have 100 points! I could not be prouder of our team. The coaches were amazing today too. They even threw in a play for the boys that they have asked for that they saw on YouTube (it didn’t work, I wouldn’t suggest it to be used again, but the boys were so excited to be able to use it.) The coaches really called a good game! Our sidelines (parents) even got into the game. At one point the ref said he couldn’t hear the coach call a time out because our sidelines were so loud! (That’s how I like it!) All in all it was a fun game to watch. Our boys played well and the other team did too.

I am going to try to apply today’s lesson to my life. Put it all out there! Do what you know how to do to get your job done and do it right and do it well! We all know our assignments, be it deadlines at work, marketing our business or serving food or making drinks or cleaning our house, planning the weeks meals or scrubbing toilets, do your best. Do everything with all your heart! Sometimes the grind at work is hard and we don’t end the day getting a trophy so it is hard to feel accomplished. Sometimes, we just end up not winning, but as you lay your head down on your pillow at night we need to be able to say to our self I did everything I could to win, and learn from what you didn’t do right and prepare to do it right tomorrow. Everyday you either win or you learn. Take those lessons and tomorrow use your heart and do it with all your heart and build on those lessons and in the end you will win!

Hard Fought Tie Game

#usafootball, Hard Work, Heart, PeeWee football, Tie Game

Today is PeeWee Game Day! The Boy’s team did so well. They did not come out with the win, however, they also did not lose either! It ended in a 0-0 tie! And that is after overtime! I don’t know how to react! I was so proud of them on the field when they played. They were all so tough and did so well. That team they played was a good team and they also seemed so much bigger than us. Our boys played their hearts out! They deserved a win. Aside from the fact that they didn’t score any points. I feel kind of dejected though. I don’t want to be all about wins and losses but that is why we play too! It just feels weird.

It's a Tie Our team is a young new team aside from the 5 or 6 that have played before. The coaches have done a great job with these kids and they have all put their hearts out there and most have over played their experience level! While, other kids still are at the point of not know where to go when they go out on the field to take over for the position they are assigned. It is rough but most of those returners have been playing since they were 5 together and they really are stepping up as leaders and pulling their team up with them and are turning this team into a team to not be overlooked! Can we win in this tough division with this new team and our small size and just the heart that these boys exude while out there on the field? I think if we get a few more boys playing to their hearts potential it is a possibility.

This game is about heart. It is about hard hitting, fast running and strategy too but it is mainly heart! Skill and play calling help but you can’t do it without heart! A parent mentioned that The Boy has the heart just like his daddy and I think that is one of the best compliments anyone could give to the Hub’s! The boy has heart he plays hard and takes on kids bigger than him and rolls with it. He has not been off the field for injury and hasn’t let his emotions overtake his ability to play. He has gotten angry a time or two and had a penalty for it today but he was being held every single play and when he tried to bump the guy on his shoulder pads he missed and got his helmet, not hard but any time a ref sees another player hit a helmet he has to call the personal foul. Apparently the same is not true for holding or mauling a guy on Defense but oh well. Sometimes you have to outplay the refs!

It feels weird but we did good and I am proud of how our team played and how the Hub’s has coached his team to be. He is a great coach I am proud of him and his team. Go Wolfpack!

Now I have to go rest up, as a day of football drains me and I have to work tonight at the bar for a special event. Nap time for this exhausted football momma! I love my boys. Oh btw, The Girl got her Point Shoes today. I feel like I missed a milestone in her dance career by not being there while she was getting fit but her aunt took some pictures and I will be at the next one! She is a beautiful dancer and growing up way to fast, but I love watching her grow and I love watching them both do what they love!

I am one proud mommy today!

Bartending, Hard Work, Momma Making Money

I am at work at the bar. It is slow. I want to figure out something for my Tuesday to get people in here. If the bar isn’t making money then I’m not making money. I have two customers right now.

image

A ladies night, or a game night, we have been trying Cards Against Humanity but only 2 people showed up for that. I wonder if we did line dancing or just dancing… Would people come out on a Tuesday. Tuesday is kind of a lull day and night anyway! There is a reason movie theatres do $5 movies… I wonder if we could do a movie date night and offer a special when they buy drinks and dinner we buy them a $5 movie ticket or what about some sort of date night special to bring people in… We need a niche! I believe if we have a niche we can get people…
Any Bartenders or potential customers have any ideas?!

We need a Tuesday thing….to bring in new people a new crowd who want to hang out and buy two or three Cocktails and maybe food…

Think. Think. Think.

Suggestions greatly appreciated….

I am sure there is something I can go clean or reorganize behind the bar…

When I get home I need to wake the Hubs up and fuck him after this slow night it may be the only tip I get!!

Still Baseball Season with All Stars!!

All Stars, Baseball, Football, Goals, Hard Work, Kids, Mom stuff, Robbie Tobek, Vacation?

Went to the Seahawks and USA Football Mom’s clinic today. One of my favorite Seahawks alumni was there Robbie Tobek! Was a great Center and anchored our Seahawks through the Superbowl 40/Mike Holmgren era! I was start struck and of course took a selfie with him, (which was the highlight if my night)! Also heard great lectures on Nutrition, and concussion management as well as a refresher on equipment fitting, then we got to get out on the field and run through some tackling drills. All in all it was a great time. I will do it again! Next time I will grab some moms from PeeWees and have a crew of us Wolfpack mommas.

While I was at the Mom’s clinic I missed closing ceremonies for baseball, and the announcement of the Boy getting selected for the baseball All-Star team!
image

He set a goal for that and he made it. The only sad part is that he may have to miss going to Yellowstone with his Grandparents… Wonder if they can postpone their reservations? The Boy made the decision to be 100% committed to the All-Star team no matter what though. Good on him for being committed. However, I did tell the league that he was not available for AllStars so I wonder why they selected him anyway… Makes a sticky situation in the family… It’s what he wants to do so he will play baseball! The one thing that will be nice is that The Hubs doesn’t have to coach. He can be the supportive dad! The Hubs will like that and I think the Boy will do well with maybe a little pressure off of him… Or maybe now there’s more…who knows. Better keep my baseball mom hat on for a little while longer I guess.

I am so ready for football! Especially after this Mom’s clinic! Can’t wait for kids to be strapping up the pads and hearing the sound of pads hitting pads and the whistle of the coaches drills, Give Me Two!!! (That’s how our coaches get the player’s attention.)

I am super excited to see another side of the Boy and baseball. I hope it is a good experience and I hope the Boy still gets to go on vacation with Gram and Gramps! A lot of unknown right now. Summer starting, new coach and new team, excitement and nerves boiling up in me already. Practice 6 days a week for now until the first game which is July 5 (or something). New Adventure upon us! I guess, all I can say is GO EASTERN!!!

Be You, Goals, Half Marathon, Hard Work, Running

Happy Saturday!!! So to update you all from yesterday I am happy to say that I passed my bartending test. I got a 99% on the written and 100% on the practical with a time of 7:02, that is for 12 drinks! I am ready to go to work! It was fun learning a new craft!

As we speak we are in the car heading to Portland! I am doing the Rock and Roll Half Marathon tomorrow. Actually I think I am going to do the 10K due to the fact that I have not trained like I wanted to, I was sick this week, and I have a foot issues going on. But I may decide, once I get out there, that I want to keep going! We’ll see. I am preparing myself mentally for the 10k if I feel good I will keep going on the 13.1 miles which I think is a 21k but if not I will allow myself to feel accomplished at the 10k finish line as well.

Race against the voice that wants to quitAfter such a long week I have not got a chance to get in my mode of race week. I usually and super excited and focused on good nutrition and such not this week I have been too busy and stressed. I finally got everything done, house clean, baseball scored and finished, (they won, yay) packed, car loaded and we are rolling so I am just now getting excited! I can’t wait! I love the energy of the start line, not as much as the energy at the finish line! Right now in this moment I am not ruling out running the full half (haha, that sounds funny). I am not ready to concede to the shorter distance but you know sitting here thinking (blogging) about it and actually doing it is different. I get a lot of confidence in my ability as I talk about it! I am feeling good and can’t wait.

I am having a hard time finding the right words to express my excitement. I love running. I love beating myself and by that I mean beating that voice that says “this is too hard” or “you will never accomplish anything like that you aren’t good enough.” Maybe that is why I come back to it every year! Well, I come back to the Portland race for strip clubs after, but I need to, for some reason. I need running to prove to myself that I can do it. That I can do something hard and finish and that hard work pays off it’s proven in that medal that they put around my neck. That is why the medal is so important to runners! That is our proof that we did something hard! Actually it our proof to show others that we did something hard. Our proof to ourselves is the sore muscles!  I can’t wait to conquer that course tomorrow! By conquer I mean cross the finish line!Slower than a herd of turtles

If you have never done a race I challenge you! Even if is walking and not running there is nothing like seeing your hard work pay off and that medal going around your neck is such a palpable of a feeling of accomplishment! It doesn’t matter how fast or how slow you did it. YOU DID IT!!! There is nothing else in life so rewarding, except for having a baby that is a finish line like no other but you can’t repeat those kinds of finish lines don’t happen every year (unless you’re Michelle Duggar).

So I am going to sit back and be excited for tomorrow. I have to decide what I am going to eat. Something not to ‘unhealthy’ but also something that will give me fuel to sustain tomorrow’s morning race! Check back tomorrow I will post my finish time and maybe a picture of my favorite running sign (I love marathon signs so if you are in Portland make a sign and come watch!) Have a great night, if you are also running the race good luck and have fun! Enjoy your finish line moment!

Happy Monday! Today the Hub’s and I woke up kind of late. Only by about 30-40 minutes. I, in turn, woke up the girl a bit late too, I did tell her she had 30 minutes to get ready. Because of that, I made her and The Boy’s breakfast and lunch, which I have been trying to get them to do own their own. She was still late, same with the Boy! Seriously they have to be more responsible to be on top of getting up getting dressed and eating breakfast then grabbing their stuff and going to school on time. Monda a job for coffeeWell, then I was late too! I had a massage  I was thinking that when the kids go to school I have 45 minutes but then the kids were late so I took the Boy to school at 8:30 instead of 8:15. Then I had a moment when I thought my massage was at 10 and then remember it was a 9:00 appointment (tomorrow is 10:00). Ugh! I hate Mondays that start like this!

Also my house is a disaster! I have cleaning up from the Girl’s party to do and catching up still from the wedding cake a week ago…WHAT?! I just need to get caught up in real life. Then, next week I have the Bartending school thing so I will be away all week. I think when I cook this week I will cook two meals and freeze one so the kids and the Hubs can just toss stuff in the oven, or something. Actually…they usually don’t have time heat up stuff in the oven it has to be crock pot meals next week…let’s plan that but still focus on this week. I asked the fam what they would like for dinners this week…all I got was ‘Cheesy Rice Soup Thing’ that I make in the crock pot from the girl. At least that is one day I don’t have to plan dinner.

I will also be stepping up the last-minute half marathon training! I have two weeks until my first half of the year! Last year I ‘cheated’ and ran the 10K instead of the half. I want to do the whole race! I think if I run even a short distant every day I can do it. I also need to not be too focused on the time just get the race finished! I am excited to run my first race and get it under my belt. The energy of race day is like nothing else and the feeling of crossing the finish line is even better! Gotta watch the nutrition and hydration too!

Monday OKSo I have a lot of work today folks. Not a whole lot of time to be super inspiring with my writing, other than by just doing my work! So I am going to get my work done, cleaning, then running and planing the meals for the week. I am think tomorrow will be shopping day. This week is teacher appreciation week so don’t forget to let your kids’ teachers know they are appreciated and loved.

Have a great week friends!
